BY COCK THEY ARE TO BLAME–
Ophelia in Shakespeare’s
Hamlet
Jakub Ceglarz, Artist, Birmingham
To drag the recognisable and to queer the sense is a task that follows the moments of performed gender. The loops of time that advertise the repetitiveness of acts, struggle against the normalised gaze that tells to love only one. Ophelia is a creature of such convention that tries to reduce things to One, or The Other. This “hole-y” body floats as it re-invents and logically establishes the techne of the Self, as to produce a gaze that stands on the edge of legibility.
